TODAY’S OBSESSION: THE NEW TORY BURCH GIGI PUMPS

If you saw the top shelf of my closet, there would be no question as to whether or not I love Tory Burch shoes! I practically live in my various Reva flats until it gets really cold.

For me, flats are one step up on the casual scale from sandals or flip-flops. On most days however, I do like to be between casual and dressy; so I rely on low or kitten heels to keep my look polished, yet stay comfortable enough in case I have to run around all day. That is why I adore Tory Burch’s new Gigi pumps.

These are just stunning shoes!

Screenshot_20160802-222652[1]Firstly, they have a flared block heel, which gives them a really modern look. None of us want to admit it to ourselves, but stilettos are not ideal to walk around in comfortably for more than 5 hours max.. I am willing to wager I could walk around in these puppies all day! They want to be walked in!

I am loving the “T” logo that was designed for this shoe. It goes perfectly with that mod look.

If you look right under the shoe on the front of the heel, you will see another tiny Tory Burch logo.

The toe is rounded so that will make these even more comfortable. If I am right in assuming that these feel like you are wearing a pair of Revas but with a slight heel, I will needing more than one pair!

THE VELVET GOLDMINE

I cannot think of a more sumptuous cold weather fabric than velvet. It can however, be somewhat of a challenge to wear. Velvet clothing certainly has a tendency to exude a dated look, but this year designers are doing it well and proper with  jackets, tailored dresses and pants, and elegant accessories. This season, velvet has never been so chic!

COLOUR-BLOCKING BOLD ACCESSORIES

COLOUR_BLOCKING BOLD ACCESSORIES

The colour-blocking trend is one that can seem overwhelming if you do not know where to start. Mixing bold and vibrant colours to make up an entire outfit is certainly not for everyone. The easiest way to get a chic look without feeling like you are overdoing it is by colour-blocking bold accessories against a plain black dress.

One of my favourite colour-blocking combos is cobalt blue and bright pink. Jewel tones are a more subdued way to go if you do not like uber bright colours.

What do you think of colour-blocking?

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT: CHARLOTTE OLYMPIA

If ever whimsy was an art form, which it is, Charlotte Olympia would have it down to a “T”. Her shoes and accessories are just so delightfully fanciful. I have kept my eye on this London based designer since shortly after her brand launched in 2008. I always look forward to seeing what she comes up with next!

First let’s talk about her shoes. Imagine what the offspring of a Picasso painting and a pair of Jimmy Choo’s would look like. That is how I would describe most of her shoes designs. There are others with a more subtle makeup, but the vivid ones are what she is known for. Just enjoy the eye candy!

BOOTIE REVALATION

That first sign of cold weather stirs feelings about footwear within me like no other season! Everyone loves boots, and since the critical mass evolution of the legging, boots are the standard housing for feet. I love boots of all kinds, but the type of boots that I have been wearing the most this season are booties. I am literally obsessed with them right now! They go with everything, and can dress up your outfit better than mid-shaft or knee-high varieties. Here are some of my top picks this year for booties.

Christian Louboutin 'Belba' round toe bootie.

Chunky heels seem to be becoming more present this year as opposed to last, and I for one am glad! Sometimes you just need a steadier step, especially when walking over ice! Yes we get a lot of icy streets where I live.

Tsubo 'Trojan' bootie.

The main reason why these caught my eye is because I have a leather jacket in this same shade! Très chic!

Via Spiga 'Bijoux' bootie.

I love suede in the winter! Just take care and waterproof them!

Are you loving booties as much as I am this year?
