Have you heard of the old saying, “An apple a day, keeps the doctor away”? There is actually quite a bit of history behind that phrase, which originated in Wales in the 1860’s. Long since then there have been different variations of that popular saying as well.
Now I am not saying by any means that the people of Wales did not know what they were talking about, even the Ancient Romans believed in the healthful benefits of apples, but the phrase as it turns out should have been updated when the first caramel apple was conceived. I feel, and I am sure I am not alone in my feelings, that the phrase should now go something like, “A caramel apple a day keeps the doctor away, but not the dentist; but it is totally and utterly worth the cavities!”. I know it needs some work but something along those lines.
As far as caramel apples go, you can always make your own, or you can go buy one from Big Bear Chocolates at the Valley Mall in Spokane, Washington! These caramel apples are gourmet, handmade, and 50 shades of delicious! Every time I go to the mall I pick up a few.
This time I got a sea salted chocolate drizzled, strawberry kissed, and toffee crunch apples.
I know so many of you live nowhere near me, but I found out the most fruituitous fact ever! You can actually buy these online now at bigbearchocolates.herokuapp.com. Wouldn’t these make the best gifts? Oh yeah and they also sell homemade fudge, just throwing that out there!
I should have gotten more than three!
